From August 18 to August 29 the University of the Nouvelle Grand’Anse offered a seminar on Divergent Thinking to 18 of our students. The idea came about after Bob Boeke, a physics and mathematics professor, taught a mathematics course to a group of first year students at the University of the Nouvelle Grand’Anse. He noticed that the students had particular difficulties, not so much with the formulas as with applying mathematical concepts to other contexts as well as planning for the future. The idea of a seminar on Divergent Thinking evolved. The teaching methodology was was so different form anything the students had experienced so far.
